Galaxy A21 is the latest addition to Samsung A series devices.
By now, you wouldn’t wait for somebody to tell you that the A series devices from Samsung are targeted at midrange folks.
A21 is a midrange smartphone that comes with a clean design.
It was launched on the 8th of April and the specifications that it posses are quite satisfactory.
The device is also better than the older Galaxy A20 launched in March last year 2019.
Galaxy S8 Price In Slot Nigeria Now
In this post, we are going to be talking about the Galaxy A21 and will also be comparing it with the older Galaxy A20 to see if Samsung did an upgrade or downgrade.
Samsung Galaxy A21 Price in Nigeria
The Galaxy A21 from Samsung will cost you 62,000 Naira in Nigeria. You can get it on Jumia and Slot.

Design
The Galaxy A21 comes with a good design as a mid ranger.
The quad camera module is set up vertically with the single led flash at it’s right side.
It’s back is made from plastic which felts like a matte finish. Utilizing matte finish at the back is good because it doesn’t attract fingerprint stains like glass do.
As expected, the frame is made from plastic too which is not bad. The device makes use of a Dual Nano SIM slot and a single memory card slot.
In comparison with the older Galaxy A20, the A20 uses a single rear camera and led flash.
The camera module is also set up vertically and the led flash is beneath the camera module unlike the new Galaxy A21 which has it’s own led flash at the right side.
The back of the older Galaxy A20 is also made from plastic and it has a plastic frame. It also uses a Dual Nano SIM card slot and a single memory card slot.
The device is not heavy, it weighs 169grams. There is 7.8 mm thickness, 74.7mm width size and 158.4mm length size.
You can get the older Galaxy A20 in five colours which are Black, Deep Blue, Red, Coral Orange and Gold. The new Galaxy A21 is currently available in one colour which is Black.
There might be other colour variants later.
So in terms of build quality and design, the Galaxy A21 is really good as an upgrade, it has a better design here but in build quality, they both uses plastic back and frame.
Display
Coming to the front, Galaxy A21 comes with a punch hole cut-out for it’s selfie camera. It has a noticeably thick chin and bezels.
The front is made from glass and it uses a Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that can produce up to 16M colours which is normal.
It measures 6.5inches diagonally and it has a screen to body ratio of 85.3% with 20:9 aspect ratio.
The smartphone display can produce a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and with the combination of 270 pixel per inch density, colour reproduction will be great.
Note that this smartphone uses a Super AMOLED panel, so it’s 720p resolution will be sharper and clearer than IPS LCD’s 720p resolution.
In comparison with the older Galaxy A20, it comes with a waterdrop notch cut-out overhead for it’s selfie camera.
The smartphone comes with a smaller chin and bezels than the new Galaxy A21.
Its front is made from a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it uses a Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that can produce up to 16M colours.
It’s display measures 6.4inches diagonally and it has a screen to body ratio of 85.7% with 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone display can produce a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels.
The pixel per inch density is 268 which is smaller than the new A21’s 270 pixels per inch density.
So in terms of display, does the Galaxy A21 comes with a better display, does it has a good display upgrade? Well, the answer is yes and no.
The new Galaxy A21 comes with a bigger 6.5inch display size unlike the older A20 which has 6.4inch display size.
I wouldn’t say the A21 is better because it has a bigger display size, there is barely no difference between 6.4inch and 6.5inch.
Again, the A21 has a better 270 pixel per inch density while the A20 has 268 pixels per inch density.
The A21 front build material is glass while the older Galaxy A20 front build is Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
So in terms of which is better, i think they are literally the same but i will go for the older Galaxy A20 display because of it’s Corning Gorilla Glass 3 build.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, A21 is powered by a midrange chipset which is okay.
The chipset is a MediaTek Helio P35 and it uses an Octa core processor clocked at 2.3GHz for the first four cores and 1.8GHz for the last four cores.
It is running on Android 10 operating system based on One UI 2.0 user interface.
The smartphone is available in one storage configuration which is 3-giga byte of RAM and 64-giga byte of ROM.
You have an option to expand the storage up to 128-giga byte with a memory card. In comparison with the older Galaxy A20 to see if there is an upgrade or not.
The smartphone is powered by an Exynos 7884 (14 nm) and it uses an Octa core processor clocked at 1.6GHz for the first two cores and 1.35GHz for the last six cores.
It is running on Android 9.0 (Pie) out of the box with One UI user interface by Samsung Mobile.
For graphics or gaming, there is a Mali-G71 MP2 GPU taking responsibility. It is available in one storage configuration also which is 3-giga byte of RAM and 32-giga byte of ROM.
There is an option to expand the storage up to 128-giga byte with a Micro SD card.
So are there any upgrade in the hardware and software?
Yes, the new Galaxy A21 comes powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset which is faster than the Exynos 7884.
Another one is that the Galaxy A21 has 64-giga byte internal storage while the A20 has 32-giga byte internal storage. So the Galaxy A21 brought a good upgrade to the hardware department.
Camera
For optics, the Galaxy A21 comes with a quad rear cameras which is setup in a vertical module.
The quad rear cameras includes a 16-mega pixels main camera, 8-mega pixels ultra wide camera, 2-mega pixels depth sensor and a 2-mega pixels macro lens.
On the front, it comes with a 13-mega pixels camera for selfies or video calls.
In comparison with the older Galaxy A20, the smartphone just came with a dual rear cameras of 13-mega pixels main camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 5-mega pixels ultra wide camera with f/2.2 aperture.
On the front, it has an 8-mega pixels selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Their rear cameras can shoot videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Even their selfie cameras can record videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second as well. So in terms of camera, you don’t need anyone to tell you that the Galaxy A21 brought some upgrades.
The A21 smartphone added macro camera and depth sensor. It also has a better 13-mega pixels selfie camera over the A20’s 8-mega pixels selfie camera.
Battery and Connectivity
When it comes to the battery capacity, the Galaxy A21 comes with a Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery which supports 15W fast charging.
The older Galaxy A20 also comes with a Non-removable Li-Po 4,000mAh battery capacity which supports 15W fast charging as well. So there is no upgrade in the battery department.
Security wise, the Galaxy A21 has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner likewise the older Galaxy A20. Connectivity options includes WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC which is market dependant and FM radio.
Final Note
The Galaxy A21 is a good Samsung smartphone to get if you are looking for a midrange device.
It also has some upgrade over the older A20 smartphone released last year.
To retain their title as the biggest Android Smartphone producers in the world, Samsung launched another ‘masterpiece’ in her flagship Galaxy Lineup of phones — the Samsung Galaxy S8 (and S8 Plus).
These devices break away from the shadows of their predecessors in almost all departments.

For security, the S8 and S8+ feature both Iris Scanning and Fingerprint reading technologies.
Finally, the battery within the Galaxy S8 is a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Ion battery while that within the S8 plus is also non-removable, but a bit larger (3500 mAh) and they both can be juiced up pretty quickly.
